God speaks.

We sometimes imagine that heaven went quiet a long time ago, that God said what He had to say, closed the book, and stepped back to watch. He did not. The fullness of what we need to know was given once and for all in Jesus, and the Church guards it whole, but Jesus did not stop loving us when the last page of Scripture was written, and down the centuries He has kept appearing to humble souls, opening His heart and asking them to carry what they saw back to the rest of us.

These are the messages from heaven, not new truths stacked on top of the faith, but the same Jesus leaning closer in a particular hour to say the one thing we keep forgetting, that He is here, that He loves us, and that He wants us closer.

It all comes from one love.

Before you read another word, know this. Every one of these revelations flows from a single source, which is His love. His mercy is that love meeting our sin, His Sacred Heart is that same love made visible, His Divine Will is that love inviting you in, and His Divine Essence is that love traced all the way back to its origin, the inner life of God. They are four windows into one Heart, so if you only have time for a single page, start with His love.

For four hundred years and more, Jesus has chosen ordinary people and shown them something extraordinary. He showed St. Margaret Mary the fire of His Sacred Heart in a quiet French convent, He told St. Faustina to paint His mercy so that no sinner would ever despair, He taught the Servant of God Luisa Piccarreta to live inside His will, and He drew Blessed Conchita, a wife and mother of nine, into the depths of His inner life. They were different saints in different centuries and different countries, and yet it was one Lord saying the same thing to each of them.

A word on how to read them

These revelations are what the Church calls private revelation, which means they do not add anything to the faith handed down from the apostles, and we are not bound to them the way we are bound to Scripture. What they do instead is help us live what He has already told us, with fresh urgency, in our own time. The Church weighs each one with great care, so we follow her judgment, we read them in the light of Scripture, and we keep our eyes on the One they all point to. For Luisa Piccarreta, whose cause is still open, we share the heart of her message and leave the rest to the Church. He is still speaking. The only question is whether we are listening.

"In many and various ways God spoke long ago to our ancestors through the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son."
Hebrews 1:1-2
